Mahindra Finance launches car leasing and subscription business

Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd announced the launch of a lease-based vehicle subscription business for urban centres. The company is eyeing a business of Rs 10,000 crore from this segment in the next 3-5 years. Under the brand ‘Quiklyz’, Mahindra Finance will offer multi-brand vehicle leasing and subscription, targeting to reach nearly 30 cities within a year.

IndusInd Bank launches mobile app for merchants

IndusInd Bank has launched Indus Merchant Solutions, a mobile app that enables merchants, retailers, and professionals to carry out banking transactions digitally. The platform will allow merchants and retailers to undertake activities such as accepting instant cashless payments on mobile phones, tracking inventory via in-built dashboards, and avail small ticket business loans. It also allows users to apply for an exclusive Point of Sale (PoS) machine to facilitate card-based payments.

Jio tops 4G chart in download speed; Airtel, Vi reduce gap in October: TRAI data

Reliance Jio Infocomm has retained its top position with the highest average data download speed of 21.9 megabits per second (Mbps) among 4G service providers in October. Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea’s (Vi) networks have been continuously recording an increase in data download speed, thereby reducing the gap with the Jio network. Airtel 4G data download speed increased to 13.2 Mbps in October from 5 Mbps in June. Vi’s 4G speed increased to 15.6 Mbps from 6.5 Mbps in June.

Alembic Pharma JV gets USFDA approval for antibacterial ointment

Alembic Pharmaceutical Ltd’s joint venture (JV) Aleor Dermaceuticals has received final approval from the US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) for Mupirocin Cream USP, 2%. The drug is indicated for the treatment of secondarily infected traumatic skin lesions. As per IQVIA data, the product had an estimated market size of $28 million (~Rs 208.05 crore) for the 12 months ended June 2021.

JSW Steel Ltd has been selected in the S&P Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for Emerging Markets for 2021. The steelmaker is one of the 15 companies from India that have made it to the DJSI EM Index, which comprises 108 companies globally. Nucleus Software gets shareholders’ approval for Rs 159 crore share buyback

Nucleus Software Exports Ltd has received shareholders’ approval for the proposed buyback of 22.67 lakh equity shares at Rs 700 per share. The company will buy back shares for an aggregate amount not exceeding Rs 159 crore. The total share buyback represents 7.81% of the total paid-up equity capital of the company.

SAIL supplies 50,000 tonne steel for Purvanchal Expressway

Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has supplied ~50,000 tonnes of steel for the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh. The products supplied for the project were TMT bars, structurals, and plates. PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the 341-km-long expressway, which connects Lucknow to Ghazipur in eastern UP.

Vedanta considers complete corporate overhaul to unlock value

Vedanta Ltd is considering plans for a complete overhaul of its corporate structure. The company is evaluating all options including demergers, spin-offs, and strategic partnerships. It is looking at listing its aluminium, iron & steel, and oil & gas verticals as separate entities. The Anil Agarwal-led company has constituted a committee of directors to evaluate and recommend such options and alternatives.

The Rs 1,023.47 crore IPO of Tarsons Products Ltd was subscribed 77.49 times on the final day of bidding. Retail investors have subscribed 10.56 times against their reserved portion. Non Institutional investors (NIIs) and Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) have subscribed 184.48 times and 115.77 times, respectively, against their reserved portions. 

The Rs 1,013.61 crore IPO of Go Fashion (India) Ltd was subscribed 2.46 times on the first day of bidding. Retail investors have subscribed 12.14 times against their reserved portion. HDFC plans to raise up to Rs 6,000 crore via bonds

Housing Development Finance Corp (HDFC) will raise up to Rs 6,000 crore by issuing non-convertible debentures (NCDs) on a private placement basis. The NCDs will have a base issue size of Rs 3,000 crore, with an option to retain oversubscription of Rs 3,000 crore (greenshoe option). The object of the issue is to augment/boost its long-term resources. The proceeds from the issue will be utilised for financing or refinancing the housing finance business requirements of HDFC.

EaseMyTrip, InterGlobe Tech Quotient announces $10 million deal to boost expansion

EaseMyTrip has signed an agreement with InterGlobe Technology Quotient (ITQ) to provide seamless access to ITQ’s travel commerce platform– Travelport (1G). The deal is worth $10 million (~Rs 73.85 crore) as advance revenue from ITQ. “Our agreement along with the commitment to innovate and offer cutting-edge technologies will bring greater developments for both companies in the future”, said Sandeep Dwivedi, COO at ITQ. ITQ is a strategic business unit of InterGlobe Enterprises and connects nearly 2 lakh agency terminals.

RIL to acquire stake in Google-backed Glance InMobi: Report

According to a report from Mint, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is in talks to buy a stake in Indian mobile content provider Glance InMobi Pte. RIL is reportedly considering an investment of $300 million (~Rs 2,215 crore) in the unicorn (billion-dollar startup). Glance InMobi is backed by Alphabet Inc.’s Google. The company pushes curated news and entertainment content onto phone lock screens and runs a short video app.

Full-service carrier Vistara has partnered with IndusInd Bank to launch a co-branded credit card— Club Vistara IndusInd Bank Explorer. The credit card will offer various benefits such as complimentary business class tickets, membership of the airline’s frequent flyer program, and lounge access. Other benefits include rescheduling fee waivers on direct booking of Vistara flights, luxury gift vouchers, complimentary movie tickets, and dining vouchers.

Centre launches second auction attempt for 11 coal mines

The Centre has announced the launch of the second attempt of the auction process for 11 coal mines for commercial mining. These are the mines that were offered in the first auction attempt launched in March 2021 and had fetched single bids. Out of the 11 coal mines on offer, six are fully explored and five are partially explored. The auction for these mines will be held online through a transparent two-stage process based on percentage revenue share.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has successfully evaluated Nucleus Software Exports’ offline retail payment product, PaySe, under the cohort of Regulatory Sandbox with “Retail Payment” as its theme. PaySe is an online and offline digital payment solution that has been designed to make banking services more accessible in remote geographies. Regulatory Sandbox refers to live testing of new products or services in a controlled regulatory environment for which regulators may (or may not) permit certain relaxations for the limited purpose of testing.

Patel Engineering secures order for 500 MW Teesta-VI hydro power project

Patel Engineering Ltd (PEL) has secured a civil work order worth Rs 1,251 crore for the 500 MW Teesta-VI hydro-power project in Sikkim from Lanco Teesta Hydro Power Ltd, a subsidiary of state-run NHPC. The project is located in South Sikkim District. Mumbai-based PEL has a strong presence in tunnels and underground works for hydroelectric and dam projects.

Piramal Enterprises to raise Rs 400 crore via NCDs

The Board of Directors of Piramal Enterprises Ltd has approved a proposal to raise up to Rs 400 crore via non-convertible debentures (NCDs). The company will issue secured, rated, listed, redeemable NCDs worth up to Rs 200 crore along with an option to retain oversubscription of up to Rs 200 crore on a private placement basis. The NCDs will be listed on the Wholesale Debt Segment and Capital Market Segment of BSE and NSE and carry a coupon rate of 8% per annum.

Adani Enterprises’ arm signs pact with April Moon Retail to operate duty-free outlets in airports

Adani Airport Holdings (AAHL) has signed a share subscription agreement with April Moon Retail Pvt Ltd (AMRPL) and existing shareholders to operate duty-free outlets in airports. AAHL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd. The company will acquire a 74% stake in AMRPL for Rs 7.40 lakh

India’s services PMI falls into contraction territory in May

India’s services sector activities slumped into contraction territory for the first time in eight months in May 2021. The deadlier second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic has led to muted domestic demand and a sharp decline in international orders. The IHS Markit India Services Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) fell to 46.4 in May, compared with 54 in April. PMI is a month-on-month calculation and a value below 50 represents contraction when compared to the previous month. The growth of new work intakes came to a halt in May, with companies posting the first decline in sales since September 2020.

Snowman Logistics partners with Dr Reddy’s for Sputnik-V vaccine in India

Snowman Logistics has entered into a strategic partnership with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories to provide end-to-end logistics solutions for the delivery of Sputnik-V Covid-19 vaccine across India. The company will manage the vaccine delivery through five of its high-capacity temperature-controlled warehouses in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Kolkata, Chennai, and Bengaluru. It will offer storage, order processing, shipper packing, and secondary transportation from these locations.

Arvind Fashions Q4 Results: Net loss at Rs 99 crore

Arvind Fashions Ltd reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 99.45 crore for the quarter ended March 2021 (Q4 FY21). It had posted a net loss of Rs 209.12 crore in the corresponding quarter last year (Q4 FY20). Its revenue from operations rose 14% YoY to Rs 768.59 crore in Q4 FY21. The company’s board has approved a proposal to raise up to Rs 400 crore via the further issue of shares through a preferential issue and/or Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP).

Gujarat State Petronet Q4 Results: Net profit rises 9% YoY to Rs 417 crore

Gujarat State Petronet Ltd reported an 8.82% YoY increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 416.67 crore for the quarter ended March (Q4). Net profit has declined by 11.43% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 19.37% YoY to Rs 3,828.66 crore during the same period. Net profit for the entire financial year 2020-21 (FY21) declined 7.08% YoY to Rs 1,606.76 crore. The company’s board has recommended a dividend of Rs 2 per share.

Zydus Cadila gets tentative USFDA approval to market lung cancer treatment drug

Zydus Cadila has received tentative approval from the US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) to market Osimertinib tablets. The drug is used to treat lung cancer. It works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells. The pharma company said the newly approved drug will be manufactured at its formulation manufacturing facility at SEZ, Ahmedabad. Zydus Cadila now has 318 approvals and has so far filed over 400 Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs) since the financial year 2003-04.

Nilkamal Q4 Results: Net profit rises 20% YoY to Rs 38 crore

Nilkamal Limited reported a 19.84% YoY increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 38.06 crore for the quarter ended March (Q4). Net profit has declined by 29.9% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 21.10% YoY to Rs 679.92 crore during the same period. Net profit for the financial year 2020-21 (FY21) declined by 20.52% YoY to Rs 112.93 crore. The company’s board has declared a final dividend of Rs 10 per share. 

Indian steel manufacturers hike rates by up to Rs 4,900 per tonne

Leading domestic steel manufacturers have hiked the prices of Hot Rolled Coil (HRC) and Cold Rolled Coil (CRC) by up to Rs 4,000 and Rs 4,900 per tonne, respectively. After the price revision, a tonne of HRC will cost Rs 70,000-71,000, while CRC will cost Rs 83,000-84,000 per tonne. The rise in steel prices will impact the prices of vehicles, consumer goods, and the cost of construction.

Nucleus Software Q4 Results: Net profit declines 2.8% YoY to Rs 27 crore

Nucleus Software Exports Ltd reported a 2.81% YoY decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 27.35 crore for the quarter ended March (Q4). Net profit has increased by 10.19% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations declined 10.16% YoY to Rs 124.18 crore during the same period. For the financial year ended March 31, 2021 (FY21), net profit rose 32.54% YoY to Rs 117.95 crore. The board of Nucleus Software Exports has recommended a final dividend of Rs 6 per share.

IDBI Bank secures $239 million debt judgment in London High Court

IDBI Bank has secured a $239 million (~Rs 1,744 crore) judgment in the commercial division of the High Court of London against a Cypriot subsidiary of India-based Essar Shipping Group. In March 2013, the bank had provided loans totaling $148 million to two Singapore registered companies— Varada Drilling One Pte Ltd and Varada Drilling Two Pte Ltd— for the construction of two jack-up drilling rigs. The borrowers failed to make scheduled repayments, and IDBI Bank had served a formal demand for repayment of the principal amount, interest, default interest, and fees in 2017.
