UltraTech Cement Q3 Results: Net profit rises 8% YoY to Rs 1,708 crore

UltraTech Cement Ltd reported a 7.8% YoY increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 1,708 crore for the quarter ended December (Q3 FY22). Net profit increased 31% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 5.89% YoY (or 8% QoQ) to Rs 12,985 crore during the same period. The company’s domestic cement sales volumes grew 13.2% YoY in Q3.

The cement manufacturer has approved a capital expenditure of Rs 965 crore for capacity expansion at Birla White from 6.5 lakh tonnes per annum (LTPA) to 12.53 LTPA.

Tata Power Renewable Energy commissions 100 MW solar projects in Uttar Pradesh

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has commissioned two solar power projects of 50 megawatts (MW) each in Uttar Pradesh. The plants are expected to generate more than 221.26 million units annually. A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was signed between TPREL and Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) for these two projects. The plants at Prayagraj and Banda will reduce 1.77 lakh tonnes of carbon emission annually.

L&T dispatches critical reactors to US for renewable diesel project ahead of schedule

Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) heavy engineering arm has flagged off five critical renewable diesel reactors to Diamond Green Diesel (DGD) two weeks ahead of the contractual delivery date. DGD is North America’s largest renewable diesel producer. L&T is executing three such green diesel projects for US and European clients at its fully integrated, digitally-enabled heavy engineering complex located at Hazira, Gujarat.

HFCL Q3 Results: Net profit falls 5% YoY to Rs 78 crore

HFCL Ltd reported a 5% YoY decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 81 crore for the quarter ended December (Q3 FY22). Net profit fell 4% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations fell 5% YoY to Rs 1,215 crore during the same period. EBITDA stood at Rs 174 crore, up 4% YoY. The company has raised Rs 600 crore via a qualified institutional placement (QIP). The amount will be utilised to build network solution capabilities to tap the upcoming opportunities in the telecom and defence sectors.

Tech Mahindra acquires European firm CTC for Rs 2,628 crore

Tech Mahindra has announced the acquisition of a 100% stake in Europe-based Com tec Co IT (CTC) for €310 million (~Rs 2,628 crore). The company is also investing €20 million for acquiring 25% ownership in two IT platforms (SWFT and Surance) of CTC. Tech Mahindra stated that the acquisitions will strengthen its digital engineering and insurance technology businesses.

Ajmera Realty to invest Rs 900 crore to develop residential project in Mumbai

Ajmera Realty & Infra India Ltd has announced plans to invest Rs 900 crore to develop a residential project as part of its 100-acre master layout in Wadala, Mumbai. The financing of the project will be supported through a mix of internal accruals, a construction finance loan from HDFC, and sales advances. The project is estimated to drive a sales value of Rs 1,500 crore. It will comprise 540 residential apartments across two wings.

Bajaj Auto to set up third EV plant in Aurangabad

Bajaj Auto Ltd will set up its third electric vehicle (EV) plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The company had earlier announced the rollout of its new EV two-wheeler plant in Pune, where it will be spending Rs 300 crore to manufacture the new electric scooter Chetak. Reports indicate that the new facility in Aurangabad will manufacture a range of electric three-wheelers.

Bhansali Engineering Polymers Ltd (BEPL) reported a 44.4% YoY decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 75.71 crore for the quarter ended December (Q3 FY22). Net profit fell 4% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations fell 17% YoY to Rs 341.52 crore during the same period. Total expenses rose 7% YoY to Rs 246.34 crore in Q3. BEPL has declared an interim dividend of Rs 1 per share.

KEC International Ltd has secured new orders worth Rs 1,112 crores across its various businesses. The company’s transmission & distribution (T&D) business secured orders for T&D projects in the Middle East and the Americas. Its civil business segment has received orders for infrastructure works in the water pipeline and urban infra segments in India. KEC International’s cable business has bagged orders from India and overseas.

Sonata Software Q3 Results: Net profit rises 81% YoY to Rs 97 crore

Sonata Software Ltd reported an 81.5% YoY increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 97.67 crore for the quarter ended December (Q3 FY22). Net profit rose 7% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 33% YoY (or 93% QoQ) to Rs 1,858.02 crore during the same period. EBITDA grew 29% YoY to Rs 146.9 crore in Q3. Sonata Software provides IT consulting, product engineering services, and application development solutions.

Angel One reported a 125% YoY jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 164 crore for the quarter ended December (Q3 FY22). Net profit rose 23% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 95% YoY (or 13% QoQ) to Rs 597 crore during the same period. EBITDA stood at Rs 234 crore in Q3, up 121% YoY. Angel One has declared an interim dividend of Rs 7 per share.

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has partnered with engineering and construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for a pilot project to test 5G-based smart city solutions. Both companies will test and validate 5G use cases based on Internet of Things (IoT) and Video Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies by leveraging L&T’s Smart City Program (Fusion) to address the challenges of urbanization, safety, and security. The trial will be conducted in Pune, and city residents will be offered 5G-based smart solutions.

UltraTech Cement Q2 Results: Net profit rises 0.3% YoY to Rs 1,314 crore

UltraTech Cement reported a 0.3% year-on-year (YoY) increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 1,314 crore for the quarter ended Sept (Q2 FY22). Net profit declined by 22.85% compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 14.4% YoY to Rs 11,743 crore during the same period. The company expects to resume coal mining operations at Bicharpur (Madhya Pradesh) in December to reduce dependence on external sources of coal.

TCS partners with Japan-based Cainz to drive business transformation

Cainz Corporation has selected Tata Consulting Services (TCS) to boost its digital transformation, improve customer experience, and drive growth. Cainz Corp is a home improvement company based in Japan. Under this partnership, TCS will help Cainz by developing ‘Find in CAINZ’, a mobile application for customers and store associates for identifying the location and availability of products in a store. Hatsun Agro Product Ltd reported a 24.79% YoY increase in net profit to Rs 82.09 crore for the quarter ended Sept (Q2 FY22). Net profit rose 40.75% compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 23.24% YoY to Rs 1,635.42 crore during the same period. Hatsun Agri Product is a private sector dairy company based in Chennai. It is engaged in the manufacturing and sale of milk, milk products, and ice cream.

Equitas SFB to raise Rs 1,000 crore via QIP

Equitas Small Finance Bank (SFB) has announced a proposal to raise Rs 1,000 crore through a qualified institutional placement (QIP). This will help the lender meet the 25% minimum public shareholding criterion stipulated by market regulator SEBI. Public shareholding in the company stood at 18.25% as of June 2021. The promoter, Equitas Holdings Ltd, holds the remaining stake.

L&T Infotech Ltd reported a 21.05% YoY increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 551.5 crore for the quarter ended Sept (Q2 FY22). Net profit increased by 11.12% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 8.8% YoY to Rs 3,767 crore during the same period. The growth in margins in Q2 was subdued due to strong hiring.

Granules India receives USFDA approval for Dofetilide capsules

Granules India has received approval from the US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) for Dofetilide capsules. The drug is indicated for the maintenance of normal sinus rhythm (delay in time to recurrence of atrial fibrillation) in patients with atrial fibrillation of greater than one week duration. Atrial fibrillation is an irregular, often rapid heart rate that causes poor blood flow. The product will be manufactured at the pharma company’s GPI facility located in Virginia, USA, and will be launched shortly.

Tata Coffee Ltd reported a 46.72% YoY increase in net profit to Rs 34.04 crore for the quarter ended Sept (Q2 FY22). Net profit increased by 18.85% compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 0.94% YoY (or 2.98% QoQ) to Rs 548.52 crore during the same period. The company’s Plantations vertical posted an 18% YoY decline in total revenues to Rs 79 crore in Q2. The value-added products vertical registered a revenue growth of 6.2% YoY to Rs 479 crore.

Route Mobile Q2 Results: Net profit rises 28% YoY to Rs 42 crore

Route Mobile reported a 28.3% YoY increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 42.17 crore for the quarter ended Sept (Q2 FY22). Net profit increased by 24.69% compared to the previous quarter. Its total income rose 23.6% YoY (or 14.7% QoQ) to Rs 438.11 crore during the same period. Route Mobile has received shareholders’ approval to raise Rs 2,000 crore through the sale of securities.

NCLT gives approval to creditors, shareholders of Reliance Retail to hold meetings for proposed Future Group deal

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has allowed the creditors and shareholders of Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL) to hold meetings to seek approval for the company’s proposed Rs 24,700 crore deal with the Future Group. On October 1, 2021, RRVL extended the long-stop date for the completion of its deal with Kishore Biyani-led Future Group by another six months to March 2022. This was due to the delays ensuing from the ongoing legal battle with the US-based Amazon.com, Inc.

Infosys Q2 Results: Net profit rises 11.8% YoY to Rs 5,421 crore

Infosys Ltd reported an 11.8% YoY increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 5,421 crore for the quarter ended Sept (Q2 FY22). Net profit rose 4.35% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 20.5% YoY (or 6.1% QoQ) to Rs 29,602 crore during the same period. Tata Motors has partnered with Endress+Hauser Flowtec India Pvt. Ltd (EHFI) to deploy electric buses for employee transportation. Wipro Limited reported an 18.86% YoY increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 2,930.7 crore for the quarter ended Sept (Q2 FY22). However, net profit declined by 9.62% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 7.7% QoQ to Rs 19,667.4 crore during the same period. UltraTech Cement commissions 1.2 MTPA of cement capacity

Ultratech Cement Ltd announced the commissioning of cement capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) in October 2021. The cement major’s Patliputra Cement Works in Bihar added a cement capacity of 0.6 MTPA, taking its total capacity to 2.5 MTPA. Dankuni Cement Works in West Bengal increased cement capacity by 0.6 MTPA, taking its total capacity to 2.2 MTPA. This additional capacity will help Ultratech Cement service the fast-growing cement demand in the eastern markets and increase its blended cement ratio.

Invesco reveals merger talks between ZEEL and Reliance Industries

Invesco, the single largest shareholder of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL), said it had tried to facilitate a possible deal between Reliance Industries Ltd and the company but refuted claims it had pushed for the transaction at a lower valuation. The latest statement from Invesco comes a day after ZEEL CEO Punit Goenka told the company’s board that Invesco had come with a proposal in February for a merger with certain entities owned by a large Indian group with an inflated valuation of at least Rs 10,000 crore. Invesco and ZEEL are locked in a legal battle over the former’s demand for holding an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).

Cabinet approves Rs 6,322 crore PLI scheme for specialty steel

The Union Cabinet has approved a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for specialty steel. Incentives worth Rs 6,322 crore will be provided to eligible manufacturers over five years. The scheme is expected to bring in investments of approximately Rs 40,000 crore and capacity addition of 25 million tonnes (MT). It will cover coated/plated steel products, high strength/wear-resistant steel, specialty rails, alloy steel products, electrical steel, etc. The PLI scheme for the steel sector will enhance exports and minimize dependence on imports of high-end steel in India.

Hindustan Unilever Q1 Results: Net profit rises 9.6% to Rs 2,061 crore

Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) reported a 9.6% YoY jump in standalone net profit to Rs 2,061 crore for the quarter ended June (Q1 FY22). Its revenue from operations rose 13% YoY to Rs 11,915 crore during the same period. EBITDA grew 7.7% YoY to Rs 2,847 crore in Q1. Adani Ports to raise $500 million through dollar bonds

Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) aims to raise at least $500 million (~Rs 3,720 crore) on offshore debt through dollar bonds. The proceeds will be used to repay existing debt, meet capital expenditure requirements, and for general corporate purposes of the company’s subsidiaries in India and Sri Lanka. Axis Bank, Barclays, Bank of America, and Citi are advising the company on the fundraisal.

Bajaj Auto Q1 Results: Net profit more than doubles to Rs 1,061 crore 

Bajaj Auto Ltd reported a 101.2% YoY jump in standalone net profit to Rs 1,061.2 crore for the quarter ended June (Q1 FY22). Net profit has declined by 20.3% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 139.88% YoY to Rs 7,386 crore during the same period. Bajaj Auto sold nearly 3.42 lakh units of motorcycles and commanded a market share of 19.7% in Q1. The company announced the formation of a wholly-owned subsidiary to venture into the electric mobility segment.

Tata Power to transfer 100% stake held in Trust Energy Resources to Tata Power International

Tata Power Company Ltd has signed a share purchase agreement (SPA) with Tata Power International Pte. Ltd (TPIPL) for the sale of 100% equity shares held in Trust Energy Resources (TERPL) for $285.64 million (~Rs 2,125 crore). Both TPIPL and TERPL are wholly-owned subsidiaries of Tata Power. The transaction is likely to be completed in the next two to three weeks.

Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) reported a 49.23% YoY increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 62.81 crore for the quarter ended June (Q1 FY22). Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced a new partnership with the Dutch Open Golf Tournament, one of Europe’s most innovative and sustainable golf events. The Dutch Open 2021 will take place from September 16 to 19 at the Bernardus Golf court in Cromvoirt.

Tata Power Solar Systems announced that it has bagged an order worth Rs 1,200 crore from state-run power giant NTPC Ltd for setting up a 320 MW ground-mounted solar project. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power Limited. The scope of work includes the acquisition, engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the grid-connected solar project on a turnkey basis. The commercial operation date for this project is set for May 2022.

Birla Corporation Ltd announced an 82.1% YoY increase in net profit to Rs 148.42 crore for the quarter ended December (Q3). Its revenue rose 5% YoY to Rs 1,823 crore during the same period. The company’s performance in Q3 was driven by growth in sales volume for the cement division, aggressive cost rationalisation, and higher sales of premium products. Birla Corp is on course to expand its production capacity to 25 million tonnes (MT) by 2025.

Supreme Industries Q3 Results: Net profit rises 153% YoY to Rs 312 crore

Supreme Industries Ltd reported a 153.08% YoY increase in net profit to Rs 312.28 crore for the quarter ended December (Q3). Revenue rose 34.26% YoY to Rs 1,843.80 crore during the same period. The company has announced plans to invest around Rs 400 crore to support construction activities at seven production sites. Supreme Industries is an Indian plastics company, based in Mumbai.

Petrol price touches record high of Rs 85.70 in Delhi; diesel at Rs 75.88

Petrol and diesel prices on Saturday touched new all-time highs after rates were increased for the fourth time this week. This took the petrol price in Delhi to Rs 85.70 per litre and diesel price to Rs 75.88 per litre. All prices have gone up by Re 1 per litre this week. Earlier this week, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan blamed the Saudi oil output cut for the surge in oil prices but remained non-committal on tax cuts.

Polycab India Ltd reported a 19.07% YoY increase in net profit to Rs 263.62 crore for the quarter ended December (Q3). Its revenue rose 11.63% YoY to Rs 2,798.83 crore during the same period. The company saw volume growth across its two product segments- wires & cables and fast-moving electrical goods (FMEG).
