Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) has secured three contracts worth ₹11,256 crore from Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL). The contract is for the construction of underground stations in the CMRL’s Phase-2 project. The first contract involves building five underground stations, including KMC, Sterling Road Jn, Nungambakkam, Gemini, and Thousand Lights. The contract duration is 1,725 days.

HDFC divests stake in HDFC Credila to Baring PE & ChrysCapital for ₹9,060 crore

Housing Development Finance Corp Ltd (HDFC) has announced the sale of 90% of its stake in its subsidiary HDFC Credila Financial Services Ltd. Baring PE and ChrysCapital will buy the stake for ₹9,060 crore. The transaction involves divesting approximately 90% of HDFC Credila’s issued and paid-up share capital, totalling around 13,29,49,207 equity shares. Following the deal, HDFC Credila will no longer be a subsidiary of HDFC.

Wipro share buyback to open on June 22

Wipro has confirmed that its Rs 12,000 crore share buyback program will commence on June 22 and close on June 29. The company plans to repurchase 26.96 crore shares (~ 4.91%) of its total paid-up equity share capital through a tender offer. The buyback was announced on April 27 at a price of Rs 445 per share, offering a premium to the previous day’s closing price. The current buyback price remains at a 17.4% premium.

CCI approves HDFC’s acquisition of more shares in HDFC ERGO

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved the acquisition of the additional shareholding of HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd by HDFC. The proposed combination involves HDFC acquiring additional shares of HDFC Life through on-market purchases. HDFC & HDFC Bank will hold over 50% of HDFC Life’s shareholding to comply with Indian banking laws following the amalgamation.

Piramal Enterprises to sell distressed loan portfolio worth Rs 2,600 crore

According to a CNBC-TV18 report, Piramal Enterprises has attracted interest from two bidders for its distressed loan portfolio with an estimated value of Rs 2,600 crore. The first bidder is Phoenix ARC, backed by Kotak Mahindra Bank and Cerberus Capital. The second bidder is Ares SSG with ACRE. This transaction is significant in the distressed asset space and involves high-value real estate projects. The loans will be sourced from Piramal Capital’s housing book.

Adani Group looking for more lenders to refinance $3.8 billion loans

The Adani Group is currently in talks with at least five new international banks to refinance $3.8 billion of loans taken for the acquisition of ACC Limited and Ambuja Cement. Most of the existing lenders, including Standard Chartered, Barclays and Deutsche Bank, are expected to participate in the refinancing. In addition, the group is in discussions with two Taiwanese banks and a Malaysian bank to expand the consortium of lenders for syndicating the loan. The refinancing may involve extending the payment tenor by three years.

Abrdn sells 10.2% stake in HDFC AMC via block deal

UK-based asset management company Abrdn plc has sold its entire 10.2% stake in HDFC Asset Management Co Ltd for about ₹3,547 crore, or about $432 million. Abrdn, a part of HDFC AMC’s promoter group, had proposed to sell the stake in a range of ₹1,800 to ₹1,892.45, according to a term sheet reviewed by Reuters.

ONGC to get dividends instead of oil from Russia’s Sakhalin-1 field

ONGC is no longer receiving its share of oil from Russia’s Sakhalin-1 field, but it will still receive dividends from the field. A new company formed by Russia now sells all the oil from Sakhalin-1, whereas ONGC used to sell its share independently. ONGC retains a 20% stake in the new operator and will receive dividends based on its ownership. The field is currently producing approximately 200,000 barrels per day.

Sanofi’s board approves demerger of its consumer healthcare business

Sanofi India’s board has approved the demerger of its consumer healthcare business into a separate entity. The demerger is yet to receive approval from shareholders and regulators. After the demerger is completed, Sanofi will retain a 60.4% stake in both entities and SIL shareholders will receive 1:1 SCHIL equity shares of Rs 10 each for their existing shares.

JSW Infrastructure has submitted its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) to SEBI for an initial public offering (IPO). The company aims to raise Rs 2,800 crore from the IPO, which will be utilized for debt repayment and capacity expansion. Zydus Lifesciences has received the final approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) for manufacturing and marketing Metronidazole Topical cream in the US. HDFC Asset Management Company Ltd (HDFC AMC) reported a 10% YoY increase in net profit to Rs 376.2 crore and a 5% rise in revenue to Rs 541 crore for Q4 FY23. The company’s Quarterly Average Assets Under Management (QAAUM) for Q4 was Rs 4.49 lakh crore, compared to Rs 4.32 lakh crore for the same period last year. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd has launched its ophthalmology treatment CEQUA in the Indian market to treat Dry Eye Disease (DED). Serum Life Sciences will make an additional equity investment of $150 million in Biocon Biologics (BBL), a subsidiary of Biocon. The total aggregate equity investment of SILS in BBL will now amount to $300 million.

PNB Housing Finance reported a 43% YoY increase in net profit to ₹269 crore for the quarter ended December (Q3 FY23). Its net interest income (NII) rose 67% YoY to ₹734 crore during the same period. BPCL to set up 1 GW renewable energy plant in Rajasthan

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) will set up 1 gigawatt (GW) of renewable energy capacity in Rajasthan. The nation’s second-largest state oil refiner is gradually changing its path to achieving a net zero emission target by 2040. It plans to expand its renewable portfolio to reach 1 GW of generating capacity by 2025 and 10 GW by 2040. NTPC Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Switzerland-based Energy Vault Holdings, Inc. The two entities aim to deploy gravity-based energy storage technology and software solutions based on the outcome of a joint feasibility study. The technology also offers beneficial utilization of coal ash for manufacturing composite blocks for Energy Vault’s energy storage system.

The Central government has announced nutrient-based subsidy rates for phosphatic and potassic fertilizers for the upcoming Kharif crop season. Shriram Transport Finance Q3 Results: Net profit falls 6% YoY to Rs 681 crore

Shriram Transport Finance Company Ltd reported a 6% YoY decline in net profit to Rs 681 crore for the quarter ended December (Q3 FY22). Net profit fell 12% when compared to the previous quarter. Its net interest income (NII) rose 11% YoY to Rs 2,388 crore during the same period. Total assets under management stood at Rs 1,24,602 crore in Q3 FY22, up 8% YoY. Loan losses and provisions increased by 46% YoY to Rs 984 crore.

Tube Investments to acquire 70% stake in Cellestial E-Mobility

Tube Investments of India Ltd (TII) will acquire a 70% stake in startup Cellestial E-Mobility Pvt Ltd for Rs 161 crore. Cellestial E-Mobility is engaged in the design and manufacture of electric tractors, aviation ground support electric equipment, and other electric machinery. It has designed and developed two tractor prototypes for production. As part of its entry into clean mobility, TII is also setting up a 100% subsidiary for its electric 3-wheeler initiative.

HDFC AMC Q3 Results: Net profit falls 3% YoY to Rs 360 crore

HDFC Asset Management Company (AMC) reported a 3% YoY decline in net profit to Rs 359.75 crore for the quarter ended December (Q3 FY22). Its revenue from operations rose 14% YoY to Rs 549.8 crore during the same period. Overall operational cost increased 35% to Rs 151 crore. Total assets under management (AUM) stood at Rs 4.37 lakh crore in Q3, up 7% YoY.

Paytm partners with Fullerton India to scale up lending to MSMEs

One97 Communications Ltd (Paytm) has partnered with Fullerton India to expand digital lending to micro, small & medium enterprises (MSMEs) and consumers from smaller cities and towns. IEX Q3 Results: Net profit rises 38% YoY to Rs 80 crore

Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) reported a 38% YoY increase in net profit to Rs 80.5 crore for the quarter ended December (Q3 FY22). Net profit increased by 5% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 38% YoY (or 7% QoQ) to Rs 117 crore during the same period. EBITDA stood at Rs 98.7 crore in Q3, up 42% YoY. 

Vi MD says drop in customer base is because of tariff hikes/SIM consolidation

Vodafone Idea (Vi) Managing Director Ravinder Takkar said there was “no concern regarding the 4G customer addition pace”, and the drop in subscribers was the result of tariff hikes in November and SIM consolidation. His comments come on the back of a 5.8 million decline in Vi’s customer base in the quarter ended December (Q3 FY22).  The telecom company only saw a 0.8 million addition in its 4G subscribers in Q3.

The Ramco Cements Ltd reported a 63% YoY decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 75.2 crore for the quarter ended December (Q3 FY22). Net profit fell 85% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 16% YoY (or 6% QoQ) to Rs 1,541 crore during the same period. The company’s EBITDA fell 42% YoY to Rs 217 crore in Q3.

The Rs 9,375 crore initial public offering (IPO) of Zomato Limited was subscribed 38.25 times on the final day of bidding. The IPO has received bids for 2,751.25 crore equity shares against the issue size of 71.92 crore shares. Retail investors have subscribed 7.45 times against their reserved portion. Non Institutional investors (NIIs) and Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) have subscribed 32.96 times and 51.79 times, respectively, against their reserved portions. 

HDFC AMC Q1 Results: Net profit rises 14% YoY to Rs 345.45 crore

HDFC Asset Management Company (AMC) reported a 14% YoY increase in net profit to Rs 345.45 crore for the quarter ended June (Q1 FY22). Net profit has increased by 9.3% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 23% YoY (or 0.8% QoQ) to Rs 507.1 crore during the same period. The company’s Quarterly Assets Under Management (QAAUM) rose 17% YoY to Rs 4,16,900 crore in Q1. HDFC AMC holds a 12.6% market share in QAAUM of the mutual fund industry.

One97 Communications files DRHP for Rs 16,600 crore IPO

One97 Communications Ltd, the parent company of digital payments platform Paytm, has filed a Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) for its IPO with market regulator SEBI. The company aims to raise Rs 16,600 crore via the public issue. The fresh issue of shares (of the face value of Rs 1 each) aggregates to Rs 8,300 crore. Existing shareholders of the firm will offload their stake worth Rs 8,300 crore. The company will use the IPO proceeds to strengthen its payment ecosystem and drive new business initiatives and acquisitions.

Tata Power partners with HPCL to set up EV charging stations at petrol pumps

Tata Power has signed an agreement with Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) to provide electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at HPCL’s petrol pumps across the country. Under the agreement, Tata Power will provide EV charging infrastructure at HPCL’s retail outlets for EV users. People can use the Tata Power EZ Charge mobile application to utilise charging facilities. Tata Power Company owns a network of over 500 public chargers in petrol pumps, metro stations, and shopping malls in 100+ cities in India.
