Government plans to auction 22 mineral blocks in next two months

The Central Government plans to auction 22 mineral blocks in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Goa in November and December. The mines to be auctioned include six iron ore blocks, three blocks each of limestone and gold, two blocks of bauxite, and one block each of copper, phosphorite & glauconite. So far, more than 180 mineral blocks have been put on sale since the system of auctioning of mineral blocks began in 2015-16.

D-Mart’s revenue jumps 35% YoY to ₹10,385 crore in Q2

Avenue Supermarts Ltd (ASL) reported a 35.75% YoY increase in standalone revenue from operations to ₹10,384.66 crore during the quarter ended Sept (Q2 FY23). ​​ASL owns and operates D-Mart stores across India. It had a total of 302 stores at the end of Sept. Promoted by Radhakishan Damani and his family, DMart retails basic home and personal products across various states.

DLF sells 292 luxury homes in new project at Gurugram for over ₹1,800 crore

DLF Limited has sold all 292 luxury homes in Gurugram for over ₹1,800 crore within a few days of the launch of the project. This signals strong demand despite the rise in interest rates on home loans and property prices. On September 26, DLF launched its project called ‘The Grove’ located at DLF Phase-5 in Gurugram, Haryana.

HFCL to invest ₹450 crore to make telecom products

HFCL has committed to invest ₹450 crore in the design-linked incentive (DLI) scheme of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to manufacture telecom products such as routers, antennas, and 5G radio equipment. The company has migrated to the DLI scheme as it is designing and manufacturing the products locally. The investment will support various stages of development and deployment of a futuristic range of technology products and solutions.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is planning to extensively use advanced analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) to analyse its massive database and improve regulatory supervision of banks and NBFCs. The central bank has floated an expression of interest (EoI) for engaging consultants in the use of Advanced Analytics, AI, and ML for generating supervisory inputs.

OPEC+ agrees on deep cuts to oil production

OPEC+ agreed on its deepest cuts to oil production since 2020 (during the initial stages of the Covid-19 pandemic) at a meeting in Vienna today. It will cut its collective output limit by 2 million barrels a day. OPEC+ is curbing supply in an already tight market despite pressure from the United States and others to pump more.

Tracxn Tech IPO priced at ₹75-80 per share

The ₹310-crore initial public offering (IPO) of Bengaluru-based Tracxn Technologies will open for subscription on October 10. The company has fixed the price band for the IPO at ₹75 to ₹80 per share. The issue will close on October 12. Tracxn Technologies provides market intelligence data for private companies. It operates a Software as a Service (SaaS)-based platform.

The company expects its mega-merger with Inox Leisure to close by February 2023, after which it will start to run as a combined business.

The Tata Group has commenced plans to halve the number of listed companies in the conglomerate from 29 to ~15 in the coming months to focus on investing in fewer but bigger entities that can compete well in the marketplace. They are speeding up its simplification and synergising strategy to better focus on growth & scale and improve cashflows in the larger companies. Tata Motors to invest ₹2,000 crore per annum on CV business

Tata Motors Ltd plans to continue investing up to ₹2,000 crore per annum in its commercial vehicle (CV) business to launch new models. The company is also looking to transition to cleaner mobility through vehicles powered by CNG and other alternative fuel options. It expects CNG models to account for nearly 40% in intermediate & light commercial vehicles and 20% in small CVs going ahead.

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has set up a ₹208 crore Integrated Cryogenic Engine Manufacturing Facility (ICMF) that would cater to the entire rocket engine production under one roof for Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Set up over an area of 4,500 square metres, the facility will house over 70 hi-tech equipment and testing facilities for manufacturing cryogenic and semi-cryogenic engines of Indian rockets.

BSE Ltd has received final approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for introducing the Electronic Gold Receipt (EGR) segment on its platform. HDFC Q1 Results: Net profit rises 22% YoY to Rs 3,669 crore

Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) reported a 22% YoY increase in net profit to Rs 3,669 crore for the quarter ended June (Q1 FY23). Its net interest income (NII) rose 7.8% YoY to Rs 4,447 crore during the same period. HDFC’s assets under management (AUM) stood at Rs 6,71,364 crore in Q1, up 17% YoY. Individual loan disbursements also jumped 66% YoY.

Reliance, Ola, and Rajesh Exports sign agreement under PLI scheme for battery manufacturing

Reliance New Energy Ltd, Ola Electric Mobility, and Rajesh Exports have signed the Program Agreement under Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for Advanced Chemistry Cell Battery Storage. These companies will receive incentives under the government’s Rs 18,100 crore program. The PLI scheme has been customised to favour companies interested in electric mobility and renewable energy.

Ashok Leyland Q1 Results: Net profit at Rs 96 crore

Ashok Leyland Ltd reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 96 crore for the quarter ended June (Q1 FY23). The commercial vehicle maker had posted a net loss of Rs 324 crore in the corresponding quarter last year (Q1 FY22). Its revenue from operations jumped 107% YoY to Rs 8,470 crore in Q1 FY23. Its domestic light commercial vehicle (LCV) volumes stood at 14,384 units, up 66% YoY.

Alembic Pharma’s arm gets USFDA approval to market skin treatment drug

Alembic Pharmaceuticals Ltd’s subsidiary, Aleor Dermaceuticals, has received approval from the US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) to market Diclofenac Sodium topical gel. The product is indicated for the topical treatment of actinic keratoses (scaly spots or patches on the top layer of skin). As per IQVIA data, the topical gel had an estimated market size of $10 million (~Rs 79.4 crore) for the 12 months ended March 2022.

Cipla Q1 Results: Net profit falls 4% YoY to Rs 686 crore

Cipla Limited reported a 3.96% YoY decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 686.4 crore for the quarter ended June (Q1 FY23). Its revenue from operations fell 2% YoY to Rs 5,375 crore during the same period. The pharma company’s India revenue (trade generics, prescription business, and consumer health segments) fell 8.4% YoY to Rs 2,483 crore.

Yes Bank to raise Rs 8,898 crore from Carlyle, Advent

Yes Bank’s board has approved a proposal to sell 10% of its stake to global private equity investors Carlyle Group and Advent International for Rs 8,898 crore. The lender will issue up to 369 crore equity shares to both investors at Rs 13.78 per share. It will also issue 256 crore share warrants at Rs 14.82 per warrant to funds affiliated with Carlyle and Advent. The fundraise will further boost Yes Bank’s capital adequacy and aid its medium to long-term sustainable growth objectives

IOCL Q1 Results: Net loss at Rs 1,992 crore

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd reported a net loss of Rs 1,992.53 crore for the quarter ended March (Q1 FY23). It had posted a net profit of Rs 6,021.88 crore in the corresponding quarter last year (Q1 FY22). Its revenue from operations rose 62.47% YoY to Rs 2,51,933 crore in Q1 FY23. The average gross refining margin (GRM) stood at $31.81 per barrel in Q1 FY23, compared to $6.58 per barrel in Q1 FY22.

DLF Q1 Results: Net profit rises 39% YoY to Rs 470 crore

DLF Limited reported a 39% YoY increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 469.56 crore for the quarter ended June (Q1 FY23). Its total income rose 22% YoY to Rs 1,516.28 crore during the same period. The realty major’s sales bookings jumped two-fold to Rs 2,040 crore in Q1. DLF has so far developed more than 153 real estate projects comprising over 330 million square feet of area.

Delhi govt plans 1,000 new charging points, 100 battery swapping stations

The Delhi government announced plans to ramp up infrastructure to support more electric vehicles (EV) in the capital. As part of the plan, about 1,000 new charging points for EVs and 103 battery swapping stations will be set up by Delhi Transco Ltd (DTL) in the next few weeks. The first set of charging stations are expected to be inaugurated next month.

NTPC Q1 Results: Net profit rises 15% YoY to Rs 3,978 crore

NTPC Limited reported a 15.5% YoY increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 3,977.7 crore for the quarter ended June (Q1 FY23). Its revenue from operations rose 44.46% YoY to Rs 43,177.14 crore during the same period. NTPC’s board has approved the issuance of debentures up to Rs 12,000 crore through private placement in the domestic market.

WPI inflation spikes to record-high of 15.08% in April

India’s inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) surged to a record high of 15.08% in April 2022. WPI inflation stood at 14.55% in March and 10.74% in April 2021. The heatwave across India led to a spike in the prices of perishables such as fruits, vegetables, and milk. Fuel inflation rose to 38.66% in April, while inflation for manufactured products rose to 10.85%.

Bharti Airtel Q4 Results: Net profit jumps 164% YoY to Rs 2,008 crore

Bharti Airtel Ltd reported a 164.46% YoY (or 142% QoQ) jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 2,007.8 crore for the quarter ended March (Q4 FY22). Its revenue from operations rose 22.3% YoY (or 5.5% QoQ) to Rs 31,500 crore during the same period. The average revenue per user (ARPU) stood at Rs 178 in Q4 FY22, compared to Rs 162 in Q3 FY22 and Rs 145 in Q4 FY21. The telecom company’s board has declared a final dividend of Rs 3 per share.

Abu Dhabi’s IHC invests Rs 15,400 crore in Adani Group firms

Abu Dhabi-based International Holding Company PJSC (IHC) has completed a $2 billion (~Rs 15,400 crore) investment in three Adani Group companies— Adani Green Energy Ltd, Adani Transmission Ltd, and Adani Enterprises Ltd. The investment will support and accelerate the group’s growth plan to supply India with 45 gigawatts (~9% of the country’s non-fossil energy) by 2030.

IOCL Q4 Results: Net profit falls 31% YoY to Rs 6,022 crore

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) reported a 31% YoY decline in net profit to Rs 6,022 crore for the quarter ended March (Q4 FY22). Its revenue from operations grew 25.6% YoY to Rs 2.06 lakh crore during the same period. The average gross refining margin stood at $11.25 per barrel (bbl) in Q4 FY22, compared to $5.64 per bbl in Q4 FY21. IOCL’s board has declared a final dividend of Rs 3.6 per share.

The board has also approved the issue of bonus shares in the ratio 1:2 (one bonus share for every two shares held in the firm).

PM Modi inaugurates India’s first 5G testbed

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first 5G testbed to enable startups and industry players to test and validate their products locally. It will also help reduce dependence on foreign facilities. Companies are gearing up to launch 5G networks over the next few months. PM Modi said the next-gen mobile broadband technology (5G) will boost India’s economy by $450 billion in 15 years. Tata Power Company Ltd has partnered with Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) to build an electric vehicle (EV) charging network. The company will install Tata Power EZ Charge fast chargers (DC 60 kW) at HMIL’s existing EV dealer locations across 29 cities. It will also supply, install, and commission home chargers for HMIL’s EV customers.

WPI Inflation Rises to 13.11% in Feb – Top Indian Market News

WPI inflation rises to 13.11% in February 

India’s wholesale price-based inflation accelerated to 13.11% year-on-year (YoY) in February, compared to 12.96% in January. Fuel and power inflation stood at 31.5% YoY in Feb, compared to 32.27% in Jan. Inflation in manufactured products rose 9.84% in Feb, as against 9.42% in the previous month. This signals that producers have begun passing part of their rising input costs to end-users. The food index moderated from a 24-month high of 9.55% in Jan to 8.47% in February.

DLF Limited has announced an investment of Rs 550 crore to construct a one-million sq. ft. office building for Standard Chartered Global Business Services’ campus in Chennai. In October 2020, DLF had pre-leased 7.7 lakh square feet of office space to StanChart GBS. The campus will be completed by mid-2024. The 2.3 million sq. ft. currently under construction would be completed by the first quarter of 2023 (H1 FY23).

Kotak Mahindra Bank hit by highest number of bank frauds in Apr-Dec FY22

Kotak Mahindra Bank has been hit by the highest number of frauds at 642, involving Rs 1 lakh and above, in the April-December period of 2021-22. It was followed by ICICI Bank and IndusInd Bank at 518 and 377 bank frauds, respectively. In the case of State Bank of India (SBI), the number of frauds declined over the last three years. There were as many as 923 incidents in FY18, 931 in FY19, 673 in FY20, and 283 in FY21.

Lithium Werks is a leading provider of cobalt-free and high-performance Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries.

India’s GDP Grows 5.4% in Q3 – Top Indian Market News

India’s GDP grows 5.4% in Q3

India’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 5.4% in the December quarter (Q3 FY22), lower than 8.4% growth in the previous quarter (Q2 FY22). The agricultural sector grew at 2.6% in Q3 FY22, compared to 3.7% in Q2. The mining sector grew 8.8% in the October-December quarter of FY22, compared to 14.2% growth in the last quarter. India’s construction sector witnessed a -2.8% growth in Q3, compared to 8.2% in Q2. 

According to the latest estimates from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, the economy is likely to grow at 8.9% in FY 2021-22. There are rising risks from higher prices of crude oil and commodities after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Biocon Biologics acquires Viatris’ biosimilar business for $3.34 billion 

Biocon Biologics Ltd (BBL) has entered into a definitive agreement with its partner Viatris Inc to acquire its biosimilar business for $3.34 billion. The deal will enable BBL to secure a robust commercial engine in the developed markets of the US and Europe. Viatris would receive cash of $2 billion upon closing the deal and up to $335 million as additional payments in 2024. BBL will also issue Compulsorily Convertible Preference Shares (CCPS) worth $1 billion to Viatris. BBL is a subsidiary of Biocon Ltd.

Piramal Enterprises to raise up to Rs 500 crore via NCDs

The Administrative Committee of Piramal Enterprises Ltd’s board has approved a proposal to raise up to Rs 500 crore by issuing non-convertible debentures (NCDs) on a private placement basis. It has approved the issue of NCDs of up to Rs 100 crore, along with an option to retain an oversubscription of up to Rs 400 crore (greenshoe option). The NCDs will have a tenure of 30 months with a coupon rate of 8% per annum.

DLF Limited has launched a new housing project in Chennai and expects a sales revenue of Rs 700 crore over the next 18 months. The realty company will invest ~Rs 100 crore to develop infrastructure at the 85-acre housing project (termed ‘Parc Estate’). DLF will develop 1,500 plots, having a 2.15 million sq. ft. area. It will sell 750 plots in the first phase in a price bracket of Rs 20 lakh to Rs 1.25 crore.

L&T’s heavy engineering arm dispatches mega tubular reactors to petrochemical complex overseas

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Ltd’s heavy engineering arm has dispatched two large ethylene oxide reactors weighing 1,200 tonnes each from Hazira (Gujarat) to a large petrochemical complex overseas. This was a repeat order after four identical reactors were supplied by L&T to the same client in 2020. These highly complex reactors are crucial equipment for the production of mono ethylene glycol in the petrochemical complex.

Tata Teleservices has opted for converting the interest from adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues amounting to Rs 850 crore to equity. The government will hold 9.5% in the company. Tata Teleservices has AGR dues of Rs 16,798 crore, of which it has paid Rs 4,197 crore and had opted for the 4-year AGR and spectrum payment moratorium.

As per a report from the Economic Times, Aurobindo Pharma Ltd has initiated talks with private equity (PE) funds to sell a stake of around 30-35% in its injectable business for Rs 4,500-5,250 crore. With this move, the drugmaker plans to unlock value in its core businesses. TPG Capital Management, Advent International, Bain Capital, and Blackstone have been contacted for a potential transaction, valuing the business at Rs 15,000 crore.

Future Group seeks SC’s permission to proceed with sale of assets to Reliance Retail

Future Group has sought permission from the Supreme Court (SC) to proceed with the deal to sell its retail assets to Reliance Retail. The court was hearing a combination of several cases filed by Amazon and Future Group in a dispute arising out of the e-commerce giant’s objection to the Indian company’s Rs 25,000 crore deal with Reliance. “We should be allowed to secure shareholder approval, seek nod from CCI, NCLT,” said senior advocate Harish Salve, representing Future Retail.

RBI Retains Growth Forecast for FY22 at 9.5% – Top Indian Market News

RBI retains GDP growth target at 9.5% in FY22

The Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has left the Repo Rate unchanged at 4%. The Reverse Repo Rate also remains unchanged at 3.35%. The RBI’s projection of real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth for FY22 has been retained at 9.5%. The GDP growth forecast stands at 6.6% for Q3 and 6% for Q4. The MPC expects inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to be at 5.1% in Q3 and 5.7% in Q4.

RBI’s overarching policy focus and priority will be on supporting growth amidst the threat of a third wave of Covid-19.

Jio-BP signs agreement with M&M to develop EV charging solutions

Jio-BP has signed an agreement with Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Ltd to develop electric vehicle (EV) related products and services, including EV charging solutions. The non-binding pact also includes identifying common interests in low-carbon and regular fuels. Jio-BP’s existing stations will be used for charging M&M’s electric three-wheelers, cars, quadricycles, and small commercial vehicles. Bank of Baroda reported a 24.4% YoY increase in net profit to Rs 2,087.9 crore for the quarter ended September (Q2 FY22). Cabinet approves ethanol price hike by up to Rs 1.4 per litre for blending in petrol

The Union Cabinet has hiked the price of ethanol extracted from sugarcane for blending in petrol by up to Rs 1.47 per litre for the 2021-22 marketing year, starting December. It is part of the government’s target to achieve 20% doping by 2025. Higher mixing of ethanol in petrol will help India cut its oil import bill and also benefit sugar cane farmers and sugar mills.

L&T’s construction arm secures large order from CPWD

The construction arm of Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has secured a large order (in the range of Rs 2,500-5,000 crore) for its buildings and factories business from the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). The order includes the construction of Common Central Secretariat Integrated Buildings 1, 2, and 3 in Plot 137 in New Delhi, with a built-up area of approximately 48.11 lakh sq. ft. The project is scheduled to be completed in two years.

The Supreme Court (SC) has disallowed Bharti Airtel from seeking a Goods and Services Tax (GST) refund of Rs 923 crore. The apex court upheld the Centre’s appeal and dismissed a Delhi High Court order that allowed Bharti Airtel to claim Rs 923 crore as refund of excess GST returns filed in July-September 2017.

InterGlobe Aviation Ltd (IndiGo) reported a net loss of Rs 1,435.7 crore for the quarter ended September (Q2 FY22). The airline had posted a net loss of Rs 3,179 crore in the previous quarter and a net loss of Rs 1,194.8 crore in Q2 FY21. Its revenue from operations rose 104.6% YoY (or 87% QoQ) to Rs 5,608.5 crore during the same period. State-owned NTPC Ltd reported an 8.4% YoY decline in net profit to Rs 3,211 crore for the quarter ended September (Q2 FY22). The surge in revenues was aided by a rise in demand for power due to the rapid reopening of the economy post the second wave and higher vaccination rates. Govt asks IRCTC to share 50% of revenue from convenience fee

The Ministry of Railways has asked the Indian Railways Catering and Transportation Corporation (IRCTC) to share 50% of the revenue from the convenience fee with it. So far, IRCTC kept 100% of the convenience fee it charged customers for providing various services with itself. Analysts believe that this move could spark a near 50% cut in the earnings of IRCTC since the majority of its revenues come from internet ticketing services.

Tata Motors Q1 Results: Net loss at Rs 4,451 crore

Tata Motors Ltd reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 4,450.92 crore for the quarter ended June (Q1 FY22). It had posted a net loss of Rs 8,437.99 crore in the corresponding quarter last year (Q1 FY21). Its revenue from operations jumped 107.6% YoY to Rs 66,406 crore in Q1 FY22. Tata Motors’ electric vehicle (EV) business delivered 5x revenue growth and the highest ever quarterly sales at 1,715 units. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) retail sales rose 68.1% YoY to 1.24 lakh units during the same period.

Tata Motors said the global chip shortages, uncertainty due to the spread of coronavirus variants, and commodity inflation would continue to impact business in the short term.

Kotak Mahindra Bank reported a 32% YoY increase in net profit to Rs 1,641.9 crore for the quarter ended June (Q1 FY22). Its net interest income (NII) rose 6% YoY to Rs 3,942 crore during the same period. The gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio stood at 3.56% in Q1 FY22, compared to 3.25% in Q4 FY21. The bank’s operating profit rose 19% YoY to Rs 3,121 crore in Q1 FY22. Provisions and contingencies declined by 2.8% YoY to Rs 935 crore during the April-June quarter of FY22.

Hitachi ABB Power Grids in India has commissioned a 1,800 km long 6 gigawatts (GW) ultra-high voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission link from Raigarh to Pagulur. The 800 kilovolts (kV) transmission link has the capacity to meet the electricity demand of more than 8 crore people. The link strengthens grid resilience and stabilizes the power infrastructure by combining traditional and renewable power generation. It stretches from Raigarh in Chattisgarh to Pugalur in Tamil Nadu.

Sun Pharma gets exclusive right to market Cassiopea’s acne drug in the US, Canada

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Italy-based Cassiopea SpA to sell Winlevi (clascoterone cream 1%) in the United States and Canada. Winlevi is a novel drug with a unique mechanism of action for the topical treatment of acne in patients 12 years and older. Cassiopea will receive an upfront payment of $45 million, potential commercial milestones totaling up to $190 million, and customary double-digit royalties.

L&T Q1 Results: Net profit jumps 287% YoY to Rs 1,174 crore

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) reported a 287% YoY jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 1,174 crore. Its revenue from operations rose 38% YoY to Rs 29,335 crore during the same period. EBITDA increased by 95.8% YoY to Rs 3,171.5 crore in Q1. The company secured orders worth Rs 26,557 crore at the group level in Q1, registering a growth of 13% YoY. SBI Life Q1 Results: Net profit falls 43% YoY to Rs 223 crore

SBI Life Insurance Company reported a 43% YoY decline in net profit to Rs 223.16 crore for the quarter ended June (Q1 FY22). There was a 1.28 times increase in the number of claims reported from the end of the previous financial year (FY21) to the end of the June quarter. The company posted a 9% YoY growth in new business premium to Rs 3,350 crore in Q1. SBI Life’s assets under management (AUM) rose 32% YoY to Rs 1.75 lakh crore during the same period.

DLF Q1 Results: Net profit at Rs 337.17 crore

DLF Limited reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 337.17 crore for the quarter ended June (Q1 FY22). It had posted a net loss of Rs 71.52 crore in the corresponding quarter last year (Q1 FY21). The real estate developer’s total income rose 92% YoY to Rs 1,242.27 crore in Q1 FY22. DLF’s board has announced a dividend of Rs 2 per share for the previous financial year (FY21).

Alembic Pharma Q1 Results: Net profit falls 45% YoY to Rs 165 crore

Alembic Pharmaceuticals Ltd reported a 45.42% YoY decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 164.52 crore for the quarter ended June (Q1 FY22). Its revenue from operations fell 1.13% YoY to Rs 1,326.03 crore during the same period. Revenue from its Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) business rose 6% YoY to Rs 279 crore in Q1. The India branded business grew 57% YoY to Rs 481 crore during the April-June quarter.

NTPC REL secures 325 MW solar projects at Shajapur Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh

NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL) has secured 325 megawatts (MW) solar projects to be set up at Shajapur Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh. The company won a capacity of 105 MW and 220 MW by quoting the lowest tariff rate of Rs 2.35 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) and Rs 2.33 per kWh, respectively. NTPC REL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited.

SAIL Q4 Results: Net profit rises 31% YoY to Rs 3,470 crore

Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) reported a 31% YoY increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 3,469.88 crore for the quarter ended March (Q4). Net profit has jumped 136.34% when compared to the previous quarter. Its total income rose 41.98% YoY to Rs 23,533.19 crore during the same period. The company’s total output rose 6% YoY to 4.56 million tonnes (MT) in Q4. Net profit for the financial year 2020-21 (FY21) increased by 95.6% YoY to Rs 4,148.13 crore. SAIL’s board has declared a final dividend of Rs 1.80 per share.

Industrial output falls to seven-month low in April

India’s industrial output fell to the lowest level in seven months in April due to the resurgence of Covid-19 cases. The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) fell 13% over the previous month to 126.6 in April 2021. The index for manufacturing output contracted by 12.6% over March to 125.1. The mining output index contracted 22.1% month-on-month (MoM) to 108 in April. The index for electricity generation stood at 174 in April, compared to 180 in March. The data was released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).

DLF Q4 Results: Net profit at Rs 481 crore

DLF Limited reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 480.94 crore for the quarter ended March 2021 (Q4 FY21). It had posted a net loss of Rs 1,857.76 crore in the corresponding quarter last year (Q4 FY20). The real estate developer’s total income rose 1.75% to Rs 1,906.59 crore in Q4 FY21. Net profit for the financial year ended March 31, 2021 (FY21) stood at Rs 1,093.61 crore. This is compared to a net loss of Rs 583.19 crore in FY20. DLF has appointed two of its executives, Ashok Tyagi and Devinder Singh, as Chief Executive Officers (CEOs).

Ashoka Buildcon emerges lowest bidder for road project in Punjab

Ashoka Buildcon Ltd has been declared the lowest (L-1) bidder for a road project in Punjab by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The project consists of six-laning of IT City Chowk to Kurali Chandigarh Road, the design length of which is 31.23 km, in Punjab. The quoted bid price for the project is Rs 726 crore. The road project comes under the Indian government’s Bharatmala Pariyojana— Package II.

Heranba Industries Ltd reported a 64.51% YoY increase in net profit to Rs 43.20 crore for the quarter ended March (Q4). Net profit has declined by 3.42% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 25.34% YoY to Rs 267.83 crore during the same period. Net profit for the financial year ended March 31, 2021 (FY21) rose 57.9% YoY to Rs 154.22 crore. Ipca Laboratories Ltd has acquired an additional 13.09% stake in Trophic Wellness Pvt Ltd (TWPL) for a cash consideration of Rs 21.20 crore. The pharma company currently holds a 52.35% stake in TWPL. With this acquisition, Trophic Wellness has become a subsidiary of Ipca Laboratories. TWPL is a nutritional and wellness products company that offers a wide variety of dietary supplements of global standards.

BHEL Q4 Results: Net loss at Rs 1,035 crore

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 1,034.82 crore for the quarter ended March (Q4 FY21). It had posted a net loss of Rs 1,532.67 crore in the corresponding quarter last year (Q4 FY20). Its total income rose 40.23% YoY to Rs 7,245.16 crore in Q4 FY21. BHEL’s power vertical posted a 51% YoY growth in revenues to Rs 4,789 crore. Net loss for the financial year 2020-21 (FY21) stood at Rs 2,697.11 crore. This is compared to a net loss of Rs 1,466.01 crore in FY20.

Zee Entertainment to launch OTT platform ZEE5 in the US on June 22

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) will launch its video streaming service, ZEE5, in the United States on June 22. The over-the-top (OTT) platform is currently present in international territories such as the United Kingdom and the Middle East.
