Infosys Reports 12% YoY Rise in Net Profit in Q4 – Top Indian Market News

Infosys Q4 Results: Net profit rises 12% YoY to Rs 5,686 crore 

Infosys Ltd reported a 12% YoY rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 5,686 crore for the quarter ended March (Q4 FY22). Net profit fell 2.12% when compared to the previous quarter. Its revenue from operations rose 23% YoY (or 1.28% QoQ) to Rs 32,276 crore during the same period. The IT company secured new deals worth $2.3 billion in Q4, taking the total order book to $9.5 billion for FY22. Infosys’ board has declared a final dividend of Rs 16 per share.

Auto sales fell 6% in FY22 due to supply-side disruptions: SIAM

The automobile industry saw a 6% decline in sales in FY22 as supply-side disruptions persisted. The segment comprising passenger cars, utility vehicles, and vans sold 2.79 lakh units in March, a 3.93% YoY decline. However, sales rose 6.28% when compared to February. Total two-wheeler sales fell 13.31% over Feb and ~20.88% YoY to 11.84 lakh units in March. The data was released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

Prestige Estates Projects Ltd registered the highest ever sales of Rs 10,382.2 crore in FY22, up 90% YoY. It also recorded the highest ever collections of Rs 7,466.4 crore, up 47% YoY. During the year, the Group launched 16.77 million sq. ft. of realty projects across geographies. Prestige has lined up launches over 15 million sq. ft. across Bengaluru, Mumbai, NCR, Hyderabad, and Chennai.

DGCA bars 90 SpiceJet pilots from flying 737 Max planes

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has barred 90 SpiceJet pilots from operating Boeing 737 Max aircraft after finding them not properly trained. The regulator will take strict action against those found responsible for the lapse. The pilots will have to undergo training again on the 737 Max simulator.

Blue Star doubles production capacity on inaugurating new unit in Wada

Blue Star has doubled its production capacity of deep freezers by opening its new manufacturing facility at Wada, Maharashtra. The new facility aims to cater to the production of the company’s commercial refrigeration products and solutions. It has the capacity to produce around 2 lakh deep freezers and 1 lakh storage water coolers per annum. The facility was built with a capital expenditure of Rs 130 crore.

Fino Payments Bank to acquire 12.19% stake in Paysprint

Fino Payments Bank Ltd’s board has approved a strategic investment in New Delhi-based fintech startup Paysprint. The company will acquire a 12.19% stake in Paysprint by subscribing to its shares. The move will enable Fino to leverage Paysprint’s technology to offer API (application programming interface) plugins for the bank’s digital platform.

Tata Motors adds 160 service workshops to its network

Tata Motors Ltd has added 160 new service workshops for passenger vehicles, taking the total number of operational workshops across India to 705. The automaker now provides extensive service coverage across 485 cities. They have also launched a new mobile servicing option called EzServe. The platform allows customers to get basic service work and quick repairs done on their vehicles at their preferred location.

Man Infra secures order worth Rs 938 crore

Man Infraconstruction Ltd has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal (BMCTPL) for a contract worth Rs 937.89 crore. The contract is for supplying materials for the reclamation works being done under Phase-II at JNPT, Navi Mumbai. The order will be executed in a time frame of two years.

HCL Technologies Ltd has expanded its global partnership with Zurich-based Avaloq, a leading provider of digital banking solutions. The IT major will develop a world-class lifecycle management center for Avaloq clients. It will also invest in ongoing training and development for HCL teams working with Avaloq products.

SpiceJet settles $24 million financial dispute with Credit Suisse

SpiceJet Ltd has reached an in-principle commercial settlement with Credit Suisse AG over pending dues of $24 million. The Swiss firm had moved the Madras High Court against SpiceJet after the airline availed the services of SR Technics, Switzerland, for maintenance, repair, and overhauling of aircraft engines and components. SpiceJet had failed to make the required payments for the services.

Prices of electric vehicles (EVs) will be equal to the cost of petrol vehicles in India within two years, said Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in Lok Sabha. MPs can buy electric vehicles once a charging station is installed on Parliament premises. The minister said the government’s policy is import substitute, cost-effectiveness, pollution-free and indigenous production.

Adani Road Transport receives LoA for NHAI road project in Maharashtra

Adani Road Transport (ARTL) has received a Letter of Award (LOA) from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for a road project in Maharashtra. The order consists of six-laning the Kagal-Satara section of NH-48. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 2,008.47 crore. ARTL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd.

Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UAE’s Tawazun Economic Council (TEC) for exploring new business opportunities in the field of defence. Britannia is planning to hike the prices of its biscuits and cookies by 7% this year. Managing Director Varun Berry said the last two years have been pretty bad for the business. The latest blow delivered by the Russia-Ukraine war has affected the food supply chain. The company had initially assumed a 3% inflation this year. However, inflation is now seen at 8-9%.

GAIL announces Rs 1,083 crore buyback plan

GAIL (India) Ltd has announced a share buyback plan worth Rs 1,084.72 crore. The state-run company will buy back nearly 5.69 crore fully paid-up equity shares (of the face value of Rs 10 each) at Rs 190 per share. The buyback price is at a 24% premium over Wednesday’s closing price of Rs 153.40. GAIL has fixed April 22 as the record date for ascertaining the eligibility of shareholders for buyback of shares.

Indian govt more than doubles gas price

The government more than doubled the domestic price of natural gas, increasing it for the second time in a row amid rising global prices. Gas under the administrative price mechanism will cost 110.3% more at $6.1 a million metric British thermal units for the first half of FY23. As per reports, such a hike may benefit Oil & Natural Gas Corp., Oil India Ltd, and Reliance Industries Ltd.

Bharti Airtel to acquire 4.7% stake in Indus Towers from Vodafone Plc

Bharti Airtel Ltd has entered into an agreement to acquire a 4.7% stake in Indus Towers Ltd from British telecom giant Vodafone Plc. The block deal would be executed through Euro Pacific Securities, a Vodafone Group entity that holds a 7.59% stake in Indus Towers. Currently, Vodafone holds ~28% stake in Indus Towers, while Bharti Airtel holds 42%. Vodafone Group will infuse the proceeds from the stake sale into the cash-strapped Vodafone Idea.

PNC Infratech secures order worth Rs 885 crore from NHAI

PNC Infratech Ltd has secured a new hybrid annuity highway project worth Rs 885 crore from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The order consists of four-laning of Mathura Bypass-Gaju Village section of NH-530B in Uttar Pradesh. The completion time of the project is 24 months.

NMDC raises lump ore prices by Rs 400 per tonne

State-owned NMDC Limited has increased prices of lump ore by Rs 400 per tonne and that of fines by Rs 300 per tonne. The company has fixed prices for lump iron ore at Rs 5,600 per tonne and iron fines at Rs 4,560 a tonne with effect from February 25, 2022. NMDC is India’s largest iron ore producer. Currently, it produces ~35 million tonnes of iron ore a year from 3 fully mechanized machines.

SC orders Rajasthan discoms to pay Rs 4,200 crore compensatory tariff to Adani Power

The Supreme Court (SC) ruled in favour of Adani Power Ltd, saying three Rajasthan discoms were in contempt of the apex court’s 2020 order directing payment of compensatory tariff to the company. The power distribution companies (discoms) have not paid the dues despite their review petition having been dismissed earlier this year. The SC has directed discoms to pay Rs 4200 crore as compensatory tariff to Adani Power within four weeks.

Dr. Reddy’s Labs to acquire German medical cannabis firm Nimbus Health GMBH

Dr. Reddy’s Labratories Ltd has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Germany-based Nimbus Health GmbH. Nimbus is a privately owned and licensed pharmaceutical wholesaler that focuses primarily on medical cannabis. The consideration for this acquisition will be an upfront payment plus performance and milestone-based earnouts over the next four years. The company will be operating under its own brand Nimbus but as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dr. Reddy’s Labs.

Tata Power to set up 4 GW manufacturing facility in next 18 months

Dr. Praveer Sinha, MD & CEO of Tata Power, said the company plans to set up a 4 gigawatts (GW) manufacturing facility of cells and modules over the next 18 months. The company is targeting to add 2GW of utility-scale renewable projects every year, which requires ~Rs 8,000-10,000 crore of investment. Going ahead, the CEO expects the distribution and renewables business to contribute 40% each towards EBITDA.

SpiceJet to start six direct flights to Bangkok from March 10

SpiceJet Ltd will start six flights between India and Bangkok from March 10 onwards under an air bubble agreement. The airline will introduce daily direct flights connecting Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata with the Thai capital. It will be deploying Boeing 737 aircraft to operate all India-Bangkok flights.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday night arrested Anand Subramanian, former chief operating officer of NSE, in connection with the market manipulation case. The CBI has unearthed that Subramanian was the faceless ‘yogi’ who was communicating with Chitra Ramkrishna, the former chief of NSE. Chitra Ramakrishna allegedly brought in Subramanian without following the rules and procedures.

SpiceJet Q3 Results: Net profit at Rs 23 crore

SpiceJet Ltd reported a net profit of Rs 23.28 crore for the quarter ended December (Q3 FY22). It had posted a net loss of Rs 59.96 crore in the corresponding quarter last year (Q3 FY21). Its revenue from operations rose 33.95% YoY to Rs 2,259.3 crore during the same period. The airline’s capacity in terms of seat kilometers increased by 78% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ), while flight departures increased 59% QoQ.

ACC commission grinding unit in Tikaria

Cement manufacturer ACC Limited has commissioned a 1.6-million tonnes per annum (MTPA) grinding unit at Tikaria in Uttar Pradesh. The probe into the alleged fraud caused by ABG Shipyard Ltd (ABGSL) by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has revealed that at least 98 companies were floated by the accused to divert funds. The diverted funds were then used to create personal assets and for evergreening loans. Last week, the CBI booked ABGSL and its directors for allegedly defrauding a consortium of banks of over Rs 22,8482 crore.

India’s exports jump 25.28% to $34.5 billion in January

India’s exports rose 25.28% to $34.50 billion in January 2022. This was on account of healthy performance by the engineering, petroleum and jewellery sectors. The trade deficit during the month widened to $17.42 billion. Imports grew by 23.54% to $51.93 billion in Jan.

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has formed a strategic joint venture (JV) with Abu Dhabi Chemicals Derivatives Company RSC Ltd (TA’ZIZ) for chemical projects worth $2 billion in Ruwais. The joint venture, named TA’ZIZ EDC & PVC, will construct and operate a chlor-alkali, ethylene dichloride (EDC), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) production facility. The JV aims to export the materials to target markets in Southeast Asia and Africa and also sell them domestically.

The Indian government has approved Nestle India’s proposal towards the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for processed fruits and vegetables. In June, the company had submitted its proposal for the Centre’s PLI scheme for the food processing sector under the eligible categories, i.e., ready to eat/ready to cook and processed fruits & vegetables. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries has approved 60 applications of investment proposals by packaged food companies. The list includes ITC, Hindustan Unilever, Britannia Industries, Tata Consumer Products, Amul, etc.

The company is required to conduct an OB removal contract mining of 236.18 million bank cubic metres for a contract period of 1,795 days. The order is worth Rs 2,683.02 crore. Piramal Group completes acquisition of DHFL for Rs 34,250 crore

Piramal Enterprises Ltd (PEL) has completed the acquisition of Dewan Housing Finance Corp Ltd. (DHFL) for a total consideration of Rs 34,250 crore. This includes an upfront cash payment of Rs 14,700 crore and issuance of debt instruments worth Rs 19,550 crore (10-year NCDs at 6.75% per annum on a half-yearly basis). As a part of the process, Piramal Capital and Housing Finance Ltd (PCHFL) will merge with DHFL. The creditors of DHFL would recover an aggregate amount of ~Rs 38,000 crore from the resolution process.

HDFC Bank issues 4 lakh credit cards after lifting of embargo 

HDFC Bank has issued 4 lakh credit cards since the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) lifted the embargo (an official ban) imposed on the company. In December 2020, the RBI placed restrictions on the private sector lender on sourcing of new credit cards. The RBI eased the restrictions on August 17, 2021. HDFC Bank has also announced the relaunch of three cards— HDFC Bank’s Millennia, MoneyBack+, and Freedom. The new card variants will be available to customers in October 2021.

ABB India technology to lower production costs for Tata Steel plant

ABB India Limited will provide electromagnetic brake systems (EMBR) for two compact strip production (CSP) casters for Tata Steel’s flagship plant in Jamshedpur. The company will work under contract from SMS Group, an engineering and construction firm. ABB India’s scope of supply also includes dry-type transformers, water cooling systems, and commissioning services. ABB’s EMBR technology will allow Tata Steel to improve product quality and lower production costs.

RBI removes Indian Overseas Bank out of PCA framework

The Reserve Bank of India has removed Indian Overseas Bank from the Prompt Corrective Action (PCA) framework, subject to certain conditions and continuous monitoring. The performance of the bank was reviewed by RBI’s Board for Financial Supervision. It was noted that IOB is not in breach of the PCA parameters as per the results published for the year ended March 31, 2021. PCA is a framework under which banks with weak financial metrics are put under watch by the RBI.

Invesco Developing Markets Fund has moved the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) against Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) for failing to announce a date for the extraordinary general meeting (EGM). The US-based fund house had called for an EGM to remove ZEEL’s CEO and MD Punit Goenka. The majority shareholders also aim to reconstitute the company’s board. As per the rules, ZEEL has up till October 2 to call for an EGM.

The Board of Directors of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) has given in-principal approval for the company’s merger with Sony Pictures Network India. Both companies have entered into a non-binding term sheet to combine linear networks, digital assets, production operations, and program libraries. The merged entity will be a publicly listed company in India. Sony’s shareholders will infuse $1.575 billion (~Rs 11,600 crore) and hold a 52.93% stake in the merged entity. KPIT Tech to acquire 25% stake in Germany-based Future Mobility

The Board of Directors of KPIT Technologies has approved the acquisition of a 25% stake in Germany-based Future Mobility Solutions GmbH (FMS). The company will acquire the remaining stake over the next three years. The total consideration for the acquisition will not exceed €15.6 million (~Rs 135 crore). FMS is engaged in software and feature development in autonomous driving, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and vehicle safety.

The shareholders of IDFC Limited have rejected a resolution to re-appoint Vinod Rai as a non-independent, non-executive director of the company’s board. At IDFC’s annual general meeting, 62.3% of the shareholders voted against the resolution while 37.7% voted in support. Rai is currently the non-executive chairman of IDFC, and his term as an independent director ended on July 30.

Excise Dept asks SpiceJet to pay GST dues of Rs 285 crore to Haryana

The Excise and Taxation Department of Haryana has asked SpiceJet Ltd to clear Goods and Services Tax dues of Rs 285.86 crore after rejecting the airline’s proposal to clear its admitted dues in installments. As per a tax authority order, SpiceJet owes Rs 163.22 crore in forward charge liability and a reverse charge liability of Rs 122.64 crore from 2019-20 till September 7, 2021.

Paras Defence IPO subscribed 40.57 times on second day

The Rs 170.78 crore initial public offering (IPO) of Paras Defence and Space Technologies Ltd was subscribed 40.57 times on the final day of bidding. The IPO has received bids for 28.96 crore equity shares against the issue size of 71.40 lakh shares. Retail investors have subscribed 68.57 times against their reserved portion. Non Institutional investors (NIIs) and Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) have subscribed 26.32 times and 1.67 times, respectively, against their reserved portions.

The company will issue equity shares or non-convertible debt instruments on a private placement basis in one or more rounds. L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE) has secured two significant orders (in the range of Rs 1,000-2,500 crore) in the construction services segment. The first order consists of laying steel gas pipeline and construction of terminals for GAIL India’s Mumbai-Nagpur Pipeline project. The second order comes from Air Products Middle East Industrial Gases LLC for its Industrial Gas Hub (IGH) Network project at Jubail, KSA. LTHE will construct a steam methane reformer (SMR) to produce hydrogen and an air separation unit (ASU) to produce oxygen and nitrogen.

SpiceJet Ltd has received shareholders’ approval to transfer its cargo and logistics services business to its subsidiary, SpiceXpress and Logistics Pvt. Ltd. Lincoln Pharmaceuticals Ltd has acquired a facility in Mehsana (Gujarat) that makes antibiotics used in the treatment of pneumonia and bronchitis. The acquisition and capacity expansion of the unit entails an investment of Rs 30 crore. The plant will manufacture Cephalosporin, which is used to treat bacterial infections such as skin infections, ear infections, strep throat, tonsillitis, etc. Lincoln Pharma expects commercial production of the Cephalosporin products to commence by March 2022.

Cabinet Approves Relief Package for Telecom Sector – Top Indian Market News

Cabinet approves 4-year moratorium on AGR dues, 100% FDI in telecom sector

The Union Cabinet has approved a four-year moratorium on payment of spectrum dues by telecom companies. The government has also decided to allow 100% foreign direct investment (FDI) in the telecom sector. The Centre has decided to rationalise the definition of Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR). These measures are aimed at providing relief to companies such as Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel, who have to pay thousands of crores in unprovisioned past statutory dues. 

In other news, the Cabinet has also approved a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the automobile and auto components sector with a budgetary outlay of Rs 25,929 crore. They have also approved a PLI scheme for the drone industry.

Lupin Limited has launched generic Duexis (ibuprofen and famotidine) tablets in the US market. The drug is used to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis (inflammation or swelling of the joints). Duexis is also used to decrease the risk of developing upper gastrointestinal ulcers. According to IQVIA data, the generic version of the drug had sales of $765 million (~Rs 5,620 crore) in the US market for the 12-months ended July 2021.

FMCG major Dabur Limited has hiked the prices of its hair oils across brands by 2.3-7.5% within the past 1-2 months. According to sources in trade and distributors, the hikes have been seen in the Amla, Vatika, and Anmol Gold Coconut hair oil brands. The maximum retail price (MRP) of the 275 ml Dabur Amla hair oil bottle has been hiked by 2.9% to Rs 138, while the MRP of the 450 ml bottle is costlier by 5% at Rs 209. The price hikes come on the back of rising raw material prices, especially of crude oil and crude derivatives such as Light Liquid Paraffin (LLP).

NCC Limited was declared as the lowest (L-1) bidder to construct all three packages of Bangalore Metro’s 37 km Airport Line (Blue Line). The Airport Line will link Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) with KR Puram. The ORR-Airport Metro project will comprise two new metro lines (with a total length of 56 km) along Outer Ring Road (ORR) and National Highway 44— between Central Silk Board and KIA. It includes 30 new metro stations that will offer multimodal facilities, including bus bays, taxi stands, pedestrian walkways, and bridges.

KNR Constructions Ltd has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) for an order worth Rs 1,041.5 crore. The order includes the development of a six-lane Chittor-Thatchur Highway in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu on Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM). The project is expected to be completed within two years. KNR Construction will also be in charge of operation and maintenance for 15 years from the date of commercial operation.

The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) of Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has recommended the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Zydus Cadila’s Covid-19 vaccine, ZyCoV-D, in India. The three-dose vaccine is applied using a needle-free system known as Tropis, which can also lead to a significant reduction in any kind of side effects. ZyCoV-D has an efficacy rate of 66.6% in a late-stage trial of more than 28,000 volunteers nationwide.

Ujjivan founder flags asset quality, attrition concerns as CEO resigns

A day after Nitin Chugh resigned as CEO of Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, Samit Ghosh (the founder of Ujjivan Financial Services) highlighted two major concerns at the bank. The extent of provisions against bank loans over the last year and the high attrition rate (the rate at which people leave) at various levels were concerning. Ujjivan SFB’s board will undertake a review of the bank’s loan book to identify accounts where further provisioning is needed. The bank’s gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio jumped from 7.1% in Q4 FY21 to 9.8% in Q1 FY22.

Natco Pharma faces setback in US patent litigation

A US District Court has ruled against Natco Pharma and its partner Alvogen in patent litigation related to Chicago-based AbbVie’s Pharmacyclics LLC’s Imbruvica. The court upheld Pharmacyclics LLC and Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen Biotech’s four patents related to Imbruvica. AbbVie’s Pharmacyclics owns the patents and markets the drug with Janssen Biotech. Imbruvica is used to treat certain blood cancers.

In 2018, Natco Pharma and Alvogen had filed an Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) for a generic version of Imbruvica.

The acquisition is expected to be completed by September 2021. Gujarat-based SMTPL is a manufacturer of gas meters with end-to-end solutions and services.

RBI partially lifts technology-ban on HDFC Bank: Report

According to a report from CNBC-TV18, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has partially lifted the technology ban on HDFC Bank with effect from August 17. The central bank has allowed HDFC Bank to source new credit cards. However, the ban on digital launches will continue for the time being. In December 2020, the RBI had banned India’s largest private-sector lender from selling new credit cards and also launching new digital services due to a series of network outages.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced the Financial Inclusion (FI) index to capture the extent of financial inclusion in the country. The FI-Index has been conceptualised as a comprehensive index, incorporating details of the banking, investments, insurance, postal, and pension sectors in consultation with the government and respective sectoral regulators. This was part of the announcements made in RBI’s first bi-monthly monetary policy in April 2021.

US-based smartphone maker Orbic has partnered with Dixon Technologies to manufacture its smartphones in India. The new Orbic Myra 5G UW will be the first 5G millimeter-wave (mmWave) product to be produced in India for export to the US. The smartphones will be manufactured at Dixon Tech’s facility in Noida. Dixon is one of the 14 local and global companies that has received approval from the Ministry of Electronics and IT under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for IT hardware manufacturing.

The company’s Stakeholders’ Relationship & Customer Experience Committee has approved the allotment of 5,000 fixed-rate, redeemable non-convertible debentures (NCDs) of the face value of Rs 10 lakh each, aggregating to Rs 500 crore. SBI Cards will offer a coupon rate of 5.7% per annum on the bonds.

RailTel Corporation of India Ltd has received two works of tunnel communication of Central Railway from Indian Railways. The total anticipated project cost of the work is Rs 38.83 crore. The order has to be completed within 12 months. RailTel is an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) company. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Government of India and is run by the Ministry of Railways.

Govt approves Rs 10,900 crore PLI scheme for food processing sector

The Union Cabinet has approved the extension of a production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for the food processing sector. An outlay of Rs 10,900 crore has been approved as incentives for domestic manufacturing in the sector. This PLI scheme will help create 2.5 lakh jobs by 2026-27, boost exports, and facilitate the expansion of India’s food processing capacity to generate processed food output worth Rs 33,496 crore. The incentives under the PLI scheme would be paid for six years ending 2026-27.

Kalpataru Power bags new orders worth Rs 625 crore

Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd (KTPL) has secured new orders worth Rs 625 crore in the domestic and overseas markets. The company’s power transmission business has won orders from Africa and another order for railway electrification in India. KTPL’s international subsidiary has also received new power transmission projects in Europe. With these new orders, KTPL’s overall order book for FY 2020-21 has exceeded Rs 16,000 crore at the consolidated level.

India’s core sector output contracts 4.6% in February

The output of eight core infrastructure sectors contracted 4.6% in February 2021. Coal production declined by 4.4% last month, while petroleum refinery production declined by 10.9%. Natural gas and crude oil production declined by 1% and 3.2%, respectively. Cement production fell by 5.5%. This signifies India’s uncertain path to recovery amidst the second wave of Covid-19 infections. The data was released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

IRB Infrastructure Developers has won a highway project in West Bengal worth Rs 2,421 crore, which involves six-laning of the Dankuni-Palsit section of NH-19. The company has also secured a Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) project worth Rs 828 crore in Himachal Pradesh for four-laning of the Pathankot-Mandi section of NH-20. With these two projects, IRB Infra closes FY 2020-21 with a total order book of Rs 5,004 crore

KNR Constructions Ltd has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for a road project in Kerala. The project consists of six-laning of the Ramanattukara Junction to Valnechery bypass section of NH-66 on a Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM). The project bid cost is Rs 2,367 crore, and the company’s bid price is Rs 2,116 crore.
